About

~ Note from the founder ~

At some point I said to myself "this space has to be created". Across the full spectrum of people and the various modalities of healing, I have seen the importance of having a safe space to Be, a container for someone’s Full Self in an environment that allows us to drop in and Acknowledge what’s inside. I know how I've healed / am healing which time and time again is reflected in the humanity and process of others. To reconnect mind-body is brave and takes time. There is no quick fix to heal our past wounds and it truly requires a daily Practice to navigate life’s ache and pains.

I started wibeto practice for many reasons:

I wanted to create a calm, accepting atmosphere that offers us a safe Space to Feel (in today’s dysfunctional society, we are in a time of Doing rather than Being).

I wanted there to be a place where therapists, psychiatrists, and other holistic healing professionals collaborate and share in witnessing one’s whole bio-psycho-social-spiritual Being - unfortunately I have seen psychiatry become a place where medications are readily prescribed with little trust in another’s Inner Healer, without spending ample time understanding the manifestation of our mental health symptoms and their relationship to our past, without educating and teaching about other ways to improve nervous system regulation, without focusing on how to be conscious of How we use our limited Energy and Who we choose to share it with.

I wanted the Ketamine treatment process to be one where from start to finish, there was great attention and intention paid to the potency of such an experience - from the calming space to the preparation to the grounding and ongoing integration, it is all to support the winding healing Journey. Every member of our Team is in their own process so they can safely hold space for others. It is foundational that these treatments are for people undergoing their own therapeutic work.

“True healing simply means opening ourselves to the truth of our lives, past and present, as plainly and objectively as we can. We acknowledge where we were wounded and, as we are able, perform an honest audit of the impacts of those injuries as they have touched both our own lives and those of others around us”

Gabor Maté MD - The Myth of Normal

The Philosophy

We are born into the world as beautiful clay waiting to be shaped and contoured, as viney green plants reaching out for water and sun. As sweet as many of life’s moments can be, there are undoubtedly times when the environment (family/community/system) is unable to meet our childhood developmental needs - in other words, we are not given the proper emotional nourishment. Out of necessity, the Child Mind will find any means necessary to survive the lack of attuned Connection from our caregivers. The ways in which we adapt and make sense of our world gets Internalized (failures of our environment turns to personal beliefs about ourselves). As a consequence, we survive but not without a cost. We become affected cognitively, behaviorally, emotionally, somatically, relationally, spiritually - from these Adaptations and subconscious personal beliefs, we are naturally set on a path of thoughts, emotions, behaviors that contribute to the Mental Health Cascade.

Our symptoms, and therefore Diagnoses by mental health professionals, are often the result of these adaptations from these Unmet Childhood Needs that have affected how we function in life. If we can start viewing our ‘symptoms’ as messages rather than as consequences of randomly occurring Disorders, we can start to have a broader understanding for what is showing up for us. It is of utmost importance that we start to see this, otherwise we will miss out on seeing the Full Person.

Much of our Mental Health Field has focused on a mind-oriented Approach. As discussed in Dr. Bessel van der Kolk’s Body Keeps the Score, our trauma gets stored in our body/somatically. In order to heal, not only do we need to gain Psychodynamic Awareness through self-reflection and talk therapy, but we also need to dedicate time tending to the stored traumas of our Body (reconnecting after repeated stress caused disconnection), regulating our Nervous Systems (fight/flight/freeze/fawns patterns became engrained), and creating spaciousness in ourselves to allow for our Parts to safely come through. This process becomes that much more difficult if our foundational needs (sleep, movement, nutrition, hydration) are not met - these were typically shifted out of balance from the dysregulation of our past and how we naturally adapted. All of this will help support what is at the core of our healing / depth of our original pain - connecting with others while being our Authentic Selves. This process is unique to everyone, with no specific timeline, and can have many challenges depending on what we have faced.

In our high pressured, distracted, and stressed out society, our Inner Doer parts can be highly activated. This leaves little room to pause & reflect, to stop moving & working.. to just Be. We are needing more moments in our days to create spaciousness for the Deep Emotions we all experience. We are in need of a Space to Feel. For many, this process is a slower one and that is more than okay. In today’s society, it is very normal to have trouble connecting our mind-body-spirit and accessing these deeper parts - EMDR, ketamine, somatic experiencing, other grounding and behavioral techniques can assist us in decreasing our state of arousal and awakening the buried sensations/thoughts/feelings.

We trust in everyone’s Inner Healer. There is no guru with The Answer. We will continue to meet you on your journey and empower your Self-Agency! Underneath everyone is their Authentic Self that is waiting to emerge and be seen! Everyone is on their own timeline despite what society may say. If we are finding ourselves NEEDING to URGENTLY feel better, this is an adaptive trauma response. Unfortunately, there are very little ‘quick fixes’. It takes daily intentions, building of routine, conscious changes for our growth to be sustainable.

It is important to note that we all have unique DNA, ancestral/intergenerational histories, temperament, inherent qualities that may make us more susceptible to being affected by the pressures of our environment. Some individuals’ biological loading are strong enough to need very little environmental pressure to cause mental health symptoms while others require an immense amount of stress.

One experience will cause a unique cascade of events that will require simultaneous tending to these foundational Pillars in order to move through choppy waters, facilitate healing, and contribute to a robust structure for a fulfilling and balanced life.

The Pillars

  • Sleep. Movement. Balanced Nutrition. Hydration.

If we don’t have these managed well, it’s hard for the rest of the system to run. We cannot operate from an Energy Deficit ie. overactivity and poor work/life balance is a fast way to burnout and decline.

These can be primary issues or the result of The Mental Health Cascade - this can ping pong to create a downward spiral of our basic needs.

  • We all grew up in homes where there was emotional pain. The human experience in the family system naturally creates parent-child strain. Depending on what our Child Mind experienced & perceived, we all came out with various open wounds that left our nervous system primed for future reactions. If we don’t spend time to understand what our past was, how we had to adapt, what became Internalized, and how it’s playing out in our present, we are setting ourselves up for future re-enactments. Creating space to feel may feel uncomfortable at first but ‘what resists, persists’.

Unfortunately, many adults of the past generations have not been able to seek help for themselves and have passed their unresolved childhood pain onto their own children. Our Inner Child wants more than anything to be seen by our parents however often times we need to Re-Parent ourselves in order to heal.

  • Even people with awareness of their childhood wounding, very often struggle with their triggers - those moments when the Nervous System lights up and we fight/flight/freeze/fawn.

Regulating the Nervous System is a skill and like many skills, it requires Practice. There are many different ways to help regulate before and during a trigger. Building mind-body awareness through meditation, breathwork, mindfulness are essential skills to learn over time - DBT is a great resource to explore.

We also need to offer ourselves Self-Compassion for the times we couldn’t be at our best (reactions that resulted from the nervous system’s programming of what it needed to do to survive an overwhelming situation).

  • While not easy to do, over time we can learn to set stronger boundaries with those who can’t be retrained in how we deserve to be treated*. Many of us did not come from homes where boundaries were healthily modeled. Often times, we were shamed when trying to set them. By setting boundaries in the present, we become one step closer to Energetic Fullness.

*there are certain dynamics that allow for healing but past conflict created pathways to flee/avoid/numb - these are then missed opportunities for a relationship or family system to heal)

We must Cultivate the relationships with those that allow our Authentic Expression. Around these types of people, we will naturally feel fuller and that our boundaries can be relaxed.
