Guides to Embodiment

  • My journey to yoga did not take a linear path. My love for fitness and movement started at a very young age and evolved over the years. Some of my phases and cycles included tennis, running, weight training, biking … basically anything to keep my heart pumping and body strong.

While working and living abroad in Southeast Asia for three years, I discovered the beautiful practice of yoga. I was hooked. That is where the certifications, workshops and learning began. Upon returning to the United States, I transitioned into a corporate role for some time, but I was committed to my study of yoga. In 2014, I decided to leave the corporate setting to teach yoga full time. Since then I have pursued areas of speciality in prenatal yoga, doula/birth work, nidra, trauma-informed practices, inclusivity, mindfulness and breath work. I have had the honor of facilitating Yoga Teacher Training programs, along with mentoring new teachers. I offer a decade of teaching experience. All these areas have influenced and impacted my teachings and offerings.

For me, the yoking of the body, mind and spirit is the most profound element to the practice of yoga. Because of the link that yoga promotes, it has become a source of stability during the constant changes that are a part of life. I am so passionate about sharing this practice with others as my hope is individuals feel the same integration and presence as they navigate their lives and the human experience.

FAQs

What are the effects of energetic embodiment work?

Energetic embodiment work focuses on aligning one's physical, emotional, and energetic states, leading to a greater sense of grounding and presence. Through this practice, individuals often experience increased self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, and enhanced vitality.

It fosters a deeper connection to one's body and its wisdom, promoting holistic well-being and inner harmony. Energetic embodiment work can facilitate healing from past traumas and emotional blockages, allowing for a more balanced and fulfilling life. Ultimately, it empowers individuals to live authentically and engage with the world from a place of strength and authenticity.

Building a greater mind-body awareness will allow us to see when we are not in alignment.

Are there any side effects?

Warning, parody incoming.. Are you tired of feeling disconnected? Group Embodiment Practices brings people together to experience the joys of collective movement, mindfulness, and breathwork. But beware, side effects may include spontaneous laughter, intense feelings of unity, and an overwhelming sense of joy. Some users report random bursts of creativity and uncontrollable dance moves in public places. You might also experience a drastic reduction in stress and a significant boost in confidence. Extended use could lead to profound personal insights, deeper emotional connections, and a heightened sense of empathy. If you notice an increased desire to connect with others and a profound sense of inner peace, don’t be alarmed; it’s just Group Embodiment Practices working its magic. Ask your Inner Child if Group Embodiment Practices is right for you!

What is the power of being in a group?

We are mirrors. To be shoulder to shoulder with each other, to be able to share in a group, it allows increased vulnerability amongst the community which is necessary for individuals to heal. We can see how we are impacted by others and that our actions affect those around us.

Men especially can struggle with having other men to share deeply and openly with. Unfortunately, intergenerational trauma has resulted in the current day masculine to often exhibit little vulnerability. A healthy masculine will help prevent the pathways of addiction to workaholism and alcoholism (amongst other addictive tendencies) to further develop.

“But I hang out in a group all of the time..”

This is a safe space. The world is full of places where we’re more likely to confront a situation that is re-enacting instead of re-correcting.

The therapeutic setting emphasizes confidentiality, safety, and intentional practices to foster deep connection and self-awareness. Participants in a therapeutic group are often encouraged to explore emotions and experiences in a supportive environment, and this deliberate and focused nature distinguishes them from regular social interactions.

When each person shows up to be present, to be intentional, to be in their process, we all benefit.

What are the benefits of breathwork?

Breathwork provides a range of benefits, starting with stress reduction and relaxation by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system, helping individuals manage anxiety and find a sense of inner peace. It improves respiratory function, enhancing lung capacity and oxygen absorption, which contributes to better overall physical health.

Breathwork fosters heightened self-awareness, encouraging mindfulness and a deeper connection to the present moment, aiding in emotional regulation and mental clarity. Additionally, it can support the processing and release of emotional traumas, allowing for healing and personal growth. Finally, consistent breathwork practice can boost vitality, increase energy levels, and enhance overall well-being.

How can I start my practice now?

It’s difficult to go from a fast-paced work-oriented mode to master mediator.

Start to track your level of mindfulness. Can you meditate? What’s your level of tolerance for stillness? How much are you able to connect with different parts of your body or different Parts of yourself?

There are apps for mindfulness/meditation (Headspace, Calm, Insight Timer), breathwork (Othership), EFT (Tapping Solutions), transcendental meditation (TM), etc.

We will offer classes at some point soon!
